In today's dynamic and interconnected world, effective team building and collaboration are crucial for achieving success. This workshop will provide youth council members with the essential skills and knowledge to foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration within your youth council. Through a combination of discussions and group activities, youth council members will gain a comprehensive understanding of the key elements necessary for building a strong youth council.

Facilitator: Dr. Scott Paine (Ph.D., Political Science, Syracuse University, 1985) is an Emeritus Professor of FLC University. He served as Director of Leadership Development and Education for the Florida League of Cities from 2015 to 2022. Before joining the League staff full-time, Scott had a career in higher education spanning more than three decades, cumulating in 22 years on the faculty of the University of Tampa. Scott’s perspective on public service has been formed by both his academic career and his political activities, which included serving for two terms as a Tampa City Councilman.

NOTE: Students must be members of an established municipal youth council in order to participate in this program.
